Where is the Kayak Experience

The guided kayak safari takes place on the St Lucia Estuary which falls within the iSimangaliso Wetlands Park (Formerly known as the Greater St. Lucia Wetlands Park) where a large variety of bird life, reptiles and other animals can be seen. You will be guided by experienced guides that will ensure your safety at all times and will paddle with you around plenty crocodiles and fishing water-birds. Hear the cry of the fish eagle and view hippos resting in the waters or browsing on the grassy sandbanks.

What to expect during your trip:

A great trip for people keen to see what the wetlands has to offer in terms of bird-life and some mammals, you may be lucky enough to spot some of the most exotic birds that is to be found in South Africa. Alternatively you can just enjoy being in nature while paddling in these non strenuous flat water activity that is suitable for experienced and novice paddlers.

What to bring along to your Kayak Adventure:

A reasonable level of fitness is required, children under the age of 12 can regrettably not be accommodated. Bring along your hat, sunglasses towels, dry clothes, sun block and a raincoat and/or a suitable jacket for wet and cold conditions should it be needed.

The tour starts at the slipway, walking distance from our Lodge and progresses upstream towards Honeymoon Bend, the swamp forest and then to the bridge that is the only access to the St. Lucia Village.

Enjoy some relaxing paddling and learn about the St Lucia Estuary Eco System, places and things of interest. Mud skippers, fiddler crabs, whelks, fossil oyster beds, Hippos, the Nile Crocodile and a variety of other animals that are all part of the St Lucia Kayak Safari experience.

From the St. Lucia Village you can have an ideal South African Holiday, especially staying at St Lucia Safari Lodge from where the whole of this Top South African Nature Destination can be explored. St. Lucia Safari Lodge offer discount (Specials) if you stay for 3 days or more. Their are however many other hotels and holiday resorts to choose from.
